Oh, just your basic PCM-5822 with a 10" transflective display, mounted in a
Marsee motorcycle tank bag, running a copy of Debian hacked down to fit on a
CF card, with a tiny water resistant wrist-sized keyboard about the size of
a dollar bill mounted to the strap. Some day I want to build a nice
clamshell case out of fiberglass so that I can actually bring it outside.

After I got the hardware working, I started work on the software and got
distracted by some unrelated bright shiny thing for quite a while. When I
got back to it, the CF card stopped booting. I intend to get back to the
project, but starting with the software first this time, since that takes
more work and can be implemented independent of wacky hardware. I also need
to figure out what to use for the GUI, since its in portrait mode. I was
going to use Qt since I read that it could be rotated, but my current idea
is actually to do the GUI in ActionScript as a Macromedia Flash app and
connect to a back end via an XML socket - if I need Emacs, I can always flip
to a console, its more important to me to be able to quickly create a new UI
than to use arbitrary X apps.
