The dumb-bt you're talking about might be something like RS-232 over Bluetooth, I can't be sure, but that seems like a good guess. Tekgear has stocked some killer Bluetooth RS-232 stuff before, I remember I wanted the TDK BISM to add BT to the gumstix board before they got their onboard bluetooth, glad I waited though, onboard chip for bluetooth is much more elegant... anyways not to get off topic, again...
