I'm a newbie on this list, though I've played with small displays before. In particular, I've used the Kopin M1 and the Albatech Personal. I've also taken apart an old SONY Hi-8 camcorder and successfully extracted and used the BW CRT viewfinder, feeding it RS170 video. What I'm looking for now is a small display, about 1-1.3" diagonal (square is good too). It doesn't have to be color, monochrome is fine. Resolution doesn't have to be high -- VGA is fine, even 320x240 is ok. It does need to be quite BRIGHT: 200cd/m2 would be nice, even higher would be better (1000cd/m2 anyone). Short of this, a device in which I could change the backlighting might work. I could use either a VGA-style input signal interface, or NTSC. A decent contrast ratio would also be helpful (at least 100:1 if not, say, 500:1). Price ? be nice if it were under $1000. So anyone have any suggestions ? So far the Albatech has come the closest, but it is only about 100cd/m2. The Kopin is too small and thus, though bright, is not bright enough when expanded to the 1" image size. Same goes for the eMagin OLED (nice and bright but too small), and the camcorder CRT. We've used a DLP projector in the past -- plenty of light but very clumsy. I'm thinking of trying a larger camcorder viewfinder. But I'd love to find an LCD or OLED array that better met these criteria. Thanks. _______________________________________________ Wear-Hard mailing listhttp://www.haven.org/mailman/listinfo/wear-hard
