hi guys. i'm new to the area of wearable computing. I don't mean to troll, but i
would like to ask the following question

<flame-redutant amiantos suit>
I don't mean to be a luddite, by all means. I'm writing this email from a Plan 9
web browser. My background is that of your standard compsci/unix geek. I don't
get the hoopla behind wearable computing.

in this email ( http://wearables.blu.org/wear-hard-00/2000145.html ) Mr. Alison
(i apologise in advance if you are a female), mentions:
<quote>
In the future I can see us all having difficulty explaining to our
grandchildren the logic behind computers that sat on desks or perched
our laps. They may even have to download archival material to their
AOL/Dell Injectable (tm) to understand the logic of computers that
strapped on our waists......

Thanks to the pioneering work of many on this list, the wearable
community, universities, entrepeneurs and companies wearable computing
is a trend approaching an inflection point. Computer companies that are
slow to react to this trend will stumble. Some (such as VIA (tm) and
Xybernaut (tm)) get it already - and are moving to supply what is
currently considered by most large computer companies a niche market.
Others seem to be laying the groundwork - note the recent IBM (tm) ad
with the daytrader conducting his business via a voice activated
wearable / cell phone while sitting on a park bench.

So, I guess, I'm one of the guys that doesn't get it. so, i got to ask this
question:

What is the hack value of wearable computing? (

pardon my ignorance, i promise to get better in the future.

Thank you in advance,
George Marselis
