It's sort of interesting, using an optic
fiber bundle like this, that it doesn't have to be coherent (the
fibers don't have to be parallel and in register)
because you can prescramble the pixels at the LCD, such that the
image comes out right at the other end.  Similarly they could use
random bundles in endoscopes by unscrambling electronically.  I wonder
if they do.<br>

<pre wrap="">Yes, it is possible. One of Mann's EyeTap setups has both the
camera and aremac remote with fiber optic on both going up to
the splitter in front of the eye. Very small, the fiber is in
the eyeglass frame.

I looked into this a little, the best commercial possibilities
I could find were surveilance/police/mechanic fiber scopes.
Medical supply places may have things of interest too, think
endoscope.

<pre wrap="">Would it be possible to produce an HMD with all the
electronics in the belt box? Just, I don't know,
fiber optics bringing the light to the eyepiece?

Thanks,

Steve
