Hi Tony,

Hard to say.  The Gumstix+thumbstix-gs are thin and light, and the Li-Ion
battery required to self-power need not be very large.  An interesting
comparison would be that weight as compared to the weight of the cable
being replaced.

I haven't opened up a Twiddler before, so I don't know how much weight
might be shed by replacing the existing electronics with a Gumstix-based
solution.  Perhaps replacing the existing mechanical switches with
something based on a Freescale e-field sensor (MC33794) could also help
shed some more weight and make the whole thing more robust in the process.
