Panning on OQO?

Hello,

I have a question about how the OQO works with the VGA out. Will it
simultaneously display on the built-in screen and the VGA out? As a
clone? If the desktop is 800x480 and the VGA out is set to 640x480, will
the VGA out pan left and right as you move the mouse?

I'm wanting to know if this is possible:
1) Set the desktop resolution to 800x480
2) Put the taskbar (I'm using Windows XP speak) on the right side of the
screen
3) Make the taskbar 800-640 = 160 pixels wide

This allows full 480 pixels top to bottom, and if it works the way I
want: moving the mouse to the far left will show a maximized window, and
the taskbar will be off the right side of the HMD. Moving the mouse all
the way to the right, I can switch to another window by clicking on the
taskbar, then move the mouse all the way to the left again to see the
newly selected window.

If I then disconnected the HMD and twiddler, and used the build in
screen and keyboard, I wouldn't have to mess with all the panning, and
also not have to resize the desktop or other such things.

I know running both screens at once will eat up batteries, so am I right
in assuming that there is some hotkey that will toggle the screen on and
off?

I'm doing the panning thing right now with my desktop. The desktop PC is
connected to a monitor and a TV. The output to the TV is set to 640x480.
I have the monitor at a higher resolution. I put the taskbar on the
right side of the screen and pulled it out so it's left border is at
about 641 pixels from the left side of the screen.

I know all that could probably be accomplished by not having a taskbar
at all, and using auto-hide (again Windows speak) or even using
keystrokes to switch between applications, but it does not allow quickly
resizing the taskbar to a small width to allow viewing a document at 800
pixels wide, either on the built in screen, or panning with the VGA out.

Thanks for reading this long post,

Craig
