(Remember the Xmen III line about > "No needle will ever touch this skin again" or something to that > effect.) An interesting objection, as it gets into issues of consent. I'd fight anyone who tried to alter me against my will, but I'd pay someone to perform modifications that I want (As yet, there aren't any). > But if I did, I think I would Attach the glasses with those high power > magnets so I could get them out of the way easily. Make the nose > peice smooth and powerfully magnetic, click on the glasses. That's probably a safer design than the original pierced-nose glasses. There are some people with implanted magnets, which were originally intended to allow them to carry ferrous objects. According to an article in Wired[1], if the implant is used to carry a magnetic object, the skin between the magnet and the external object eventually dies and the magnet comes out. On the up side, they gained the ability to sense magnetic fields, including those around AC lines and speaker wires. It's not all fun, games, and supersenses, though, because the magnets are brittle, allegedly carcinogenic, and separated from the implantee's bloodstream by a thin layer of silicone [2]. -Abe [1]http://www.wired.com/gadgets/mods/news/2006/06/71087 [2]http://www.magnetism.com/magblogarchives/2006/04/something_to_think_about_befor.html (Warning, picture of swollen and hurt-looking finger) _______________________________________________ Wear-Hard mailing listhttp://www.haven.org/mailman/listinfo/wear-hard
