For that system, it would have to be partly custom made for each user
needing prescription lenses.

For it and every high resolution wearable display so far, low volume also
increases the per unit cost.

Perhaps instead of focusing on a covert system, there should be a push
for some cellphone/windows sideshow combination earbud/monocular
display, handling phone calls and displaying email/contacts/appointments
as a start.
