This demonstrates taking a video feed from a camera on an HMD, processing it, and displaying the result on the HMD: http://englishrussia.com/?p=1377#more-1377 I wonder if that's a low-cost way to go for some people: add the GUI they want to a video stream and display the result on mass-produced i-glasses like devices. I assume there's been some work on this sort of idea, but a quick search found nothing.
