Wearable Questions

I really want to get off to work on my wearable. I am having trouble
deciding if I should stick with the x86 processor or move to something
new. Mel suggested small RISC chips made from TI or Motorola. What are
the advantages and disadvantages?

What about the OS that I should use. I have grown up with and have all
of my experience with DOS based and Windows machines. Is it better to
stick with what I am familiar with of move to LINUX?

Output: many people have started talking about using completely voice
outputed wearables. Is this really practical because I would like to
see what I am doing. It would be far less obtrusive though. Thoughts?

Input: is the twiddler really the best thing or could I build something
far better? I'm interested in something that is not required to be held
all of the time. The glove idea seems great but I think it should be
something mor like the poser glove made for the nintendo.

I want my wearable to be dirt cheap. Can I hack a full sized 486 that
I own into a wearable computer? Or hack anything at all? Or possibly
get a processor REALLY cheap?

Thanks,
Kent Lofley
