Most serial cards I have (unless they have a DB-9 or DB-25 connector
on the card's backplane) have a 10-pin IDC connector (two rows of 5) you
plug a ribbon cable into, the ribbon cable connects the DB connector to
the IO card - I doubt having to even custom-wire, given the
specifications, a connector like this will stop any of us from getting a
wearable going!  (I'll help write a HowTo if needed, but I've taught
folks who can barely solder to make these <G>)

  Someone who's good at this could make 'em for those who don't solder
well, even.  (I'll trade soldering for metalworking, if someone has
metalworking tools, happily!)

  For the VGA port, just use short wires (VERY likely to be easy to
arrange in a Wearable!)  I don't even think coax is needed...
