there has been some research into this... Thad specifically has been.
Sieko has a watch that uses your kenetic energy to charge the battery for
it's self, being a micro-power device it can do this... but creating 2-5
watts of power (perferabaly 10 watts) would be alot harder and larger,
I've been looking at magnetic coupled charging for my wearable and trying
to figure out how to keep the charger from scrambling the hard drives and
other magnetic media.. (I know Use of a solid state hard drive would
eliminate this problem)  I just wish tesla was able to get his wireless  
power system working those many years ago....

Backward thinking of corperate america has more than once doomed a good
idea to a historical footnote.
