Ahh Unix, since the 60's Unix has undergone many improvements. Since
everyone and his brother had a distribution, there were a lot of
filtering out the bad distributions, or the ones that never made it in
the world of Big time OS's. Unix tends to be the choice OS because... A.
Its multi-tasking and B. Its got tons of software for it. Everyones
dream is to have a free version of Unix, until Linux that wasnt as good
as it sounded. Linux is nice because it can be configured for minimal
hardware usage(386) or Mass powerhouses(DEC Alpha 600mhz) There are even
ports to m68k,8088,80886-286, and the work on other ports is under
construction every day. Since Linux is free, and there is tons of good
software, and you can configure the hell out of it to your own liking,
it tends to be a very good choice. Now other people might have there own
reasons, but im just stating the most likely!!!

Ohh yeah and its got a 32 bit GNU compiler with Tools, so apps are as
easy as 1,2,3!
