Check out the Plutonium powered pacemakers of the 1950's.  The actual
"battery life" is 82 years (yes, I've seriously looked into these
things for the MIT project - no, not feasible).  They were actually
tested to hold up against small arms fire in case someone got shot in
a supermarket robbery.  You can still find people who have these in
their chest.
