Here is a side by side comparison of Linux versus Win95 and MacOS

		Linux Win95 MacOS
Price free $89 ???
Stable excelent	flaky good
configurability	excelent	fair good
powermanagement	good good excellent
tech support	excellent	bad good
system size	20+ megs	100+ megs	???

For me the most imporsant things however are power managment, stability,
and configurability. Also most of the work I'd be doing would be on a
Linux desktop so a Linux based wearable is a good idea.
