Stable excelent flaky good configurability excelent fair good powermanagement good good excellent tech support excellent bad good system size 20+ megs 100+ megs ??? For me the most imporsant things however are power managment, stability, and configurability. <snip> I've been flirting for a while with the idea of learning and using the LINUX OS. Especially as my field of interest re virtual reality converges with wearables and LINUX seems to be the OS of choice there. If I remember right, when I first got on BBS's and then the net, before it was a graphical web, the original interface I was using was LINUX - correct? As with Bill, most of the engineers I know are LINUX users (or IRIX for SGI's). In the comparison above it says LINUX is Free. Where should I go to download a Free copy of a full LINUX OS? Which one do you suggest is best of the free choices? And does anyone know if I can have LINUX running on my P-150 with my current config of DOS 6, WIN95, and WIN3.1 OS's also installed on my personal system? I'm using a multiboot choice menu. I generally need all OS's since the VR apps, files and worlds I use vary so much in requirements and range over so many years. I also work with SGI's from time to time mostly for VRML and running high-end VR environments. I'm not a coder, know a smidge of BASIC some scripting in VRML and HTML, a little JAVA. Paul K.
