The 68HC11 is a microcontroller, usually used for embedded
controllers. Motorola makes it in several variants; see the Seattle
Robotics Society pages at http://www.seattlerobotics.org/ - look at the
Encoder article pages and the Links pages, as well as Karl Lunt's web
pages off of http://www.seanet.com/~karllunt/, as well as Karl's many
Nuts & Volts articles & Seattle Robotics Society Encoder articles. I
usually use other processors (PICs or 80186's), but the HC11 seems a
neat unit & is quite popular.
