How's Java compare in this table? I'm a little biased towards java simply because I found it suprisingly easy to grasp after returning to programming from a long hiatus since being an Apple II prodigy in my youth. But as I understand it, Java is compact, free, and cross-platform. Of course, I'm just talking about the language, but doesn't the JavaOS extend these properties? (I must admit I've never tried the OS, just occasionally check into javasoft to see the new APIs that are in the works). I realize that since the JavaOS is evolving it may not qualify as stable, but at the same time their seems to be more attention to preventing mistakes perpetuated in older OSes. I'm also intrigued by the attempt at component software by the JavaBeans approach which could open up programming to a larger crowd. Lastly, if you envision an NC approach to a wearable wouldn't java's networkabiltiy be an advantage.
