Re: Laptop IDE versus standard IDE

(Coming in late here) Size, and desktop drives require +12V.

  {I'll trade you a Laptop to 3.5" adapter if you want, Tim, I have a
spare.  Or I can find a good HD deal locally, alternately.}

  I'm pretty impressed with the latest desktop HD I looked at for my
Linux Desktop box;  Desktop 3.5" x 1" tall IBM 8.4 Gb {DHEA-38451}, 5V
at 320 mA and 12V at 260 mA, which is indeed pretty low {$169 IIRC} My
wearable's getting a Toshi 3 Gb HD, 5V at 800 mA, roughly the same power
budget.

  Sure different than the old 5.25" FH SCSI Drives I've been testing out
for a friend (multi-Amps at both 5V & 12V, more to start, and they shake
the whole room a bit when running - some're NOISY, old server drives,
those won't last forever...)
