Stamp Controller for Linux?

Hi,

Im not sure if this is the right place for this, so apologies if it is
not.

I am a high school senior, and I am working on a "senior project" of
building a computer controlled and web accessed robot. I would like some
recommendations for the two major products we will be unable to build, and
thus have to buy. Here they are:

1) Some form of controller that will plug into either a serial or parallel
port (or any other port on a 486) and control the various servos and
switches.

requirements:
cheap. under $200.
works with linux would be nice, but not required.
at least semi-convient API to control
would be nice to be able to read some data back, but not needed.

2) Some form of wireless LAN. Must be at least 112Kbps (ISDN speed) for at
least of 1000ft radius. Can have a base station that draws lots of power,
but the mobile unit should be pretty power thrifty. Should also be
pretty cheap.

If you have any specific products you think I should look into, or perhaps
a webpage with such info on it, it would much appreciated.

You can email me here () or at , or just
reply on the list if you feel it appropriate.

Thank you for your time
