Although they're described as wince thin clients, Network Computing has just started shipping their series of thin client terminals that are about the same size as the Netwinder and sport PowerPC 33/66 cpus, or 100-150MHz mystery MIPS chips, a pcmcia slot, video, 10/100BT, Serial, parallel, etc. and claim to run an OS that combines wince and Xwindows. With the PowerPC's I'm sure you can install Linux and boot from PCMCIA flash cards, and given the PowerPC's low power consumption, these should be competitive with the Netwinders, and about the same size at 9x10x2 inches. MSRP $695 and up. No indication of the power consumption, but I'm sure its equal or better the netwinder based on the included hardware. http://www.ncd.com/ Maybe not as promising as the netwinder which sports a much faster strongARM and proven capability to run linux, the pcmcia slot and lack of hard drive is intriguing. -Paul -- R.
