The microdrive is based on the same techology as the Travelstar 6GT and
4GN which have shock ratings of 125G/600G and 150G/700G
operating/nonoperating, respectively. Regarding the 6GT, says Peter Coffee
writing for PC Week (March 9, 1998 v15 n10 p56), "By my calculations, this
means that one of these drives could fall off a four-drawer file cabinet
onto a carpeted office floor, while running, without complaint."

By way of comparison, flash is supposed to be able to take an 8 foot drop
onto concrete. So the moral of the story is: When you and your friends are
playing catch with your wearables while walking down the sidewalk, be VERY
CAREFUL not to drop the ones with rotating media. ;)
