Re: Corel NetWinder as a wearable?

Well I'm in a similar position to yourself. I want to build a
wearable. The only difference is I want a highly portable, I don't
necessarily want to 'wear' it, but I want it to be so light and
convenient that you take it with you without consideration.

I'm interested in building it, and I'm interested in a limited ammount
of pioneering. At the same time I want something that works, I want
to benefit for the mistakes others have learnt form and I don't want
to spend a lot of money, as I have already invested in flash desktop
machine.

I'd say it comes down to a PC104 type machine using existing embedded
industrial components, or a Netwinder running linux.

The Netwinder might not be small enough for some wearable users, but
for me as a highly portable it makes sense. At 10-12 volts 1.5 amps it
will probably run off a car cigarette lighter. This is appealing to
me.

To sum it up, I think the StrongARM solution is technically superior,
but only if you can take advantage of an existing product. The
Netwinder is a new but existing product. It's enough to make me hold
off on my purchase decision.
