Thanks for the info, I have looked at GoAmerica but they run about $60/month for the HPC, and that is alot of digital cell. air time now days... GoAmerica does use BellSouth, it is not 'CDPD' but Bell's South own 'Mobitex'. I assuming besides the name, Mobitex is CDPD (?) but the BellSouth sales people say it is not, but can't tell me how it is different... GoAmerica even lists is as a totally separate service. Currently, from my understanding, there is no generic CDPD available in Atlanta. Bell Atlanta has no BellSouth agreements and thus does not support Atlanta, ATT does have the best price I've seen so far, but really weak coverage, Atlanta is a major city and no CDPD at ALL (my house is not even in ATTs current cell. network)...the Mobitex signal is even LOW (REALLY LOW) at my house, 1 mile down the street it is great, but acrossing over the lake kills the signal (?) and since that is GTEs area, Bellsouth is not going to place a tower around here. State to state roaming is not a real big thing for me, but I would like to have metro Atlanta coverage (approx ~50m radius) and secondary major city roaming (LA,SF,LV,NY). Rant on: I would even be happy with an IR modem connection between my c-phone and HPC, but noooooooo Nokia will not produce a driver for the 6160, they have it for the 8810, but no USA release for that phone. OK, how about a serial cable for the Nokia, "...that is available on the 8810 only...oh the 8810 is not available in the USA...please call in about 3 to 4 months there might be some new cables for the 6160 available..". I be lucky if they are even still making the 6610 in 4 months... How about an Erk. phone, "cables will be available by the end of 1st quarter, but no guarantees, it might be 2nd or 3rd quarter..."... Rant off: -bob (just need to move to a city with a good cell-telecom infrastructure) > -----Original Message----- > From: Ken Williams [mailto:] > Sent: Friday, January 01, 1999 4:42 PM > To:
