IBM CDPD Modem

Ok, the IBM CDPD PC-CARD modem I ordered arrived today.

One thing that wasn't quite clear when I ordered it, while most of the
electronics are in the PC-CARD, there is an external transmitter unit.
Its a little bulky, but is very light. Probably could be broken down but
I haven't looked inside it yet.

It comes with a Jabra headset.

This looks like it was manufactured in 1995. I beleive these were
surplussed. Too bad because it looks like its about the right product
for 1999....

There are no technical docs, and the software is windows only. I'm
going to start working on Linux drivers for it.

Did anyone else on the list buy one of these? Want to cooperate on
drivers?

The "IBM Wireless Modems Technical Reference" has an IBM part number of:
SC30-3692 and contains everything necessary to write a driver... but I
don't have a copy of it.

Anyone know how to get such documentation? IBM is such a large company
and this product being 3 years old, I don't hold out great hopes of
easily getting my hands on this manual... but I will start trying.

Jay

Worried about Y2K? You should have bought a Macintosh.
(It also costs less, is twice as fast, and makes you more productive.)
