in short, probably not, unless you are really good at scrounging up
"discards" or things that people don't want anymore.  Guesstimate that
building your own will cost about twice that of something cobbled
together from off-the-shelf components.

Either compromise on features & design (primarily on the cpu module) or
get donations of equipment, even if it's for "loan" only.  Some
companies have good programs for that 8>
