Hi Ozan- >I couldn't find a web page for this one. I'm guessing that Xybernaut renamed >their version of ISWC to ICWC... An unfortunate confusion of names. ISWC and ICWC are not related. Xybernaut's conference (ICWC) is more commercial in focus and is not peer reviewed (i.e. speakers are chosen by the company instead of a panel of paper reviewers from the field). It does not produce a proceedings and is not sponsored by any of the standard academic/industrial organizations. Also, they've had sporadic meetings: 1995 and 1998 are the only two I know of off hand. IEEE's ISWC, on the other hand, was put together to emphasize cutting edge research in academic and industrial work in a peer-reviewed manner and provide an annual record of the field by its proceedings. Commercial-based conferences definitely fill a need, and I had a lot of fun when I gave the "plenary" at Xybernaut's (then CPSI) meeting in 1995 (about 80 people - mostly military, industry, and investors). However, it had more of a "what might we do?" feel instead of the "this is what we can do and how to do it" and methodology of an ISWC. Back then Xybernaut needed to show a market and asked a few of us to come talk to show they weren't alone in the world with this "crazy" notion :-) Thad -- Subcription/unsubscription/info requests: send e-mail with subject of "subscribe", "unsubscribe", or "info" toWear-Hard Mailing List Archive (searchable): http://wearables.blu.org
