Is it any worse than all these tanks-of-napalm-type-liquid we drive around
at higher-than-animal speeds?  Or backpacking with a Coleman stove? (the
latter's a better example)

At least the hydrogen won't stay and burn on you, unlike the liquid fuels
we're used to dealing with.  Remember, the Hindenburgh zeplin disaster was
only ignited by the hydrogen; it was the burning carcass of the machine
that caused the bulk of the deaths.  Most of the hydrogen followed it's
laws of physics and went up.
