I don't have one yet and the reason is that so far I haven't seen a
viable (for me) HMD. I may be the odd man out here, but I could care
less about high resolution or color - all I want is a nice sharp 80x24
screen to run emacs on.

Unfortunately this no longer seems probable as the P4s have ceased to
exist and everything else seems to be targeting big pretty color
screen at a cost of several thousand dollars.

I am a college student and linux enthusiast who really wants to try
out some areas of software that are opened up by always having a
machine with you (remembrance agents, etc.). I prefer to assemble
machines by hand, buying each piece as I gather enough cash to do so,
planning ahead as best I can for what lies on the horizon.

My problem is that although the rest of the components of a wearable
suitable for my needs have fallen into the $400-600 range (that's all
together, not each individual part being $400-600), a HMD is at least
this if not a multple (or exponent :) of this!

I understand that there is a limited market for HMDs and that there
are high costs involved in making them and R&D....I'm just venting
some frustration.

Oh well, at least I have a new (well, new to me anyway) Sparc LX to
play with. Or, rather, I *will* should UPS ever deign to deliver
it. See you later.
