I've read something about controlling a mouse by mind. Unfortunately, I have nothing about this except a french newspaper article (Libération - may 11th,1999), I can't find any american reference about this experiment (after a quick search), but it happened in Atlanta, Georgia, and was performed by Dr Philip Kennedy and Dr Roy Bakay, from Emory University. This was made for a man suffering of "locked-in syndrome" (that means tetraplegique), to give him the ability of communicating by the mean of a Macintosh (clicking on different icones, and "typing" on a virtual keyboard). The neuro surgeon established tiny electrods at a precise spot of his brain, connected to an amplifier and a transmitter. The Mac is connected to the receiver (they talk of TV remote control, does that mean infra red ?). The patient needed a lot of practise to manage to control the mouse, and it is still very slow, but it works ! May be some of you heard about this ?
