> I've heard there's a mirror inside [the Private Eye], but I don't know > if it spins. It's simply a resonantly-driven mirror on a spring. This mirror sweeps the image of a vertical LED array over the horizontal field of view. WRT the Nipkov disc television, I built one of these last term at a friend's suggestion. See http://www.media.mit.edu/~rehmi/rotoscope/ for a view of the prototype. The characters appear distorted because of systematic errors in the position of the laser used to cut the disc. The biggest problem with any display that multiplexes a single light source is that its effective brightness is reduced by the ratio of the number of separate light paths to the total number of pixels. Fortunately, the eye senses brightness on a logarithmic rather than an absolute scale. -Rehmi -- Subcription/unsubscription/info requests: send e-mail with subject of "subscribe", "unsubscribe", or "info" toWear-Hard Mailing List Archive (searchable): http://wearables.blu.org
