Just going off some of Apple's PR and a brief talk with the computer gurus in our department I'm impressed with Apple's new G4 chip. One tantilizing comment was about it's power consumption that is less than the current G3 chip. As I understand it G3s use a lot less power than mobile pentiums. From personal experience I can get almost 5 hours out of a G3 portable driving a big 14.1 TFT screen with a single battery. The iBooks use additional power conservation including ram image sleep for 6 hour battery life. I know the strong arm is still king in power savings, but as long as people are still pursuing Pentium wearables and IBM has open licensed the G3/4 to entice Linux users why isn't their more interest in Apple/Linux PPC wearables?? -- Bill Nordstrom University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas ( www.swmed.edu ) 5323 Harry Hines Blvd. Dallas, TX 75235-9039 W:214-648-9227 Fax: 214-648-8694 mailto:"I'm not afraid of the millenium.
