Ahhh,, Isn't this really just called an acoustic coupler?  They have been 
around for a say, over two decades.  They were invented to hook terminals 
up to handsets before the inventors of the RJ 11 got their Phd's.  I 
believe you can buy them on the street.  They are very useful if you 
travel to Europe where RJ 11's are never used!  

I am to lazy to find a URL, but now that you have the correct keywords I 
will leave locating them on web as an exercise for you!
