Ok... now I feel dumb.

What you described doing does work for me.

A few things to check:

Be *sure* you have the cables in their correct orientation.  I have on
occation plugged them in backwards (on the drives, not the parvis
board as the drives are not always keyed).

Is the board getting power?  (Confirm by seeing if there is power on
the  board, test at j22 (rev C or rev D scalable I)

What card is in the scalable I?  Could it be defaulting to LCD output
only?

Is the card seated in fully?

Is there a blown fuse on your power board (silly, but it can happen)

If I recal you use a chip in your U8 socket, are the jumpers(j20) set
correctly to handle that? Is the chip in correctly and fully seated? 

Tell me more and perhaps I can help (I am also a scalable I user).
