I bought one ($50, or $20 if you go to BestBuy etc.), and my recognition rate under ViaVoice/Windows went from really crappy, to rather good. They pick up basically no background noise, have an ok sound quality, and perhaps most importantly are really small, as they fit into the ear canal. You look vaguely like a Secret Service agent wearing one... My only complaint, which might be a feature for some, is that while wearing one you can hear the outside world just fine, at about ~-10 dB.
