I recently received a copy of Fascinations magazine and was highly intrigued by a 500 dollar item - the new, third generation sony glasstron. They device, as you all are probably familiar with, has been redesigned into a smaller, sunglass-like apparatus. it simulates a television quality 52 inch screen from 6.5 feet away. This sounds like a wonderful device, yet is quite large for sunglasses, and definitely not conspicuous for walking around. It says it has two .5" lcd displays inside, and was wondering if anybody could buy/borrow/obtain one and disect it to see if those .5" lcds could be taken off the original housing and mounted onto smaller, normal eyewear. They can be battery powered, and can be overlayed on the viewers line of site through "gates" in the glasses, and seem like at 500 dollars, with a color screen at 52 inches would be great. heres a link...http://www.sel.sony.com/SEL/consumer/sts/gtronspecs.html By the way, on the older version it seems the same size, only with a larger mounting system, but it states that it is high-resolution and pc-compatable, does this mean the new one is lower-resolution? It also says it shouldn't be used by people under 15. Why?
