I guess this point wasn't clear.  Each LED is driven by a separate pixel
stream to create a unique set of scanlines. The little MPEG clip on my page
shows the Nipkow disk built for 4 separate LEDs but actually driven by only
one. In a single revolution of the disk, 4 groups of 32 scanlines are swept
out.  Each group is just tall enough to be driven by a few  SMT LEDs
side-by-side in a 1206 package.

If you're willing to spend a few bucks, you could just modify my Postscript
code [1] to fill in the disk area with black and then have it rendered to
film at a print shop for a sufficiently opaque mask.
